Frequently asked questions

Why are tours by appointment only?

We do this for two reasons. By conducting guided tours we can allow you closer contact and experiences with the animals. The second reason would be for the animals themselves. By limiting the amount of tours, the animals have privacy and are more interested in interaction when people are around.

Is creature features a rescue?

Our mission is education, although we will rescue animals or assist in rescuing animals when possible. Of the animals that call Creature Features home, around 1/4 are rescues. We have also assisted other zoos and individuals in primate, parrot, and other exotic animal rescues.

Is Creature Features a zoo?

We are federally licensed as a zoo, run like a family, and rural like a farm.

Why are your on-site tours closed during the winter?

This is because some of our animals are off exhibit, some don't want to leave their heated barns, and lastly because this is our building/maintenance season.

Can I volunteer with Creature Features?

Unfortunately we cannot accept volunteers at this time.

Why are on-site tour tickets only available to purchase one month in advance?

We conduct mobile education programs as well and they need a chance to book. Once we close bookings for them, we can see what days are left in our calendar for on-site tours.

can I bring my service dog to an on-site tour?

yes, but for the safety and comfort of our animals they are not allowed inside the enclosures. We reserve the right to ask a service dog to leave for any behavior we deem stressful to our animals. If your service dog is asked to leave we will not refund your ticket.

Are on-site tours stroller or wheelchair accessible?

Not at this time. For a more accessible option check out our "mobile Programs" page.
